Dental Braces

Dental Braces

At Maximus Specialist Dental Center, orthodontic treatment finds special emphasis because of the presence of an experienced, two time national award winning orthodontist, Dr Anurag Gupta. Orthodontics are most effective if started early, thus no matter your age, seeing an orthodontist can be a good decision towards finding that perfect smile.

The orthodontic examination:

During your visit there will be several diagnostic methods used to exam your bite, including an exam, pictures, x-rays, and impressions. Dr Anurag will examine your previous dental history, perform his or her own assessment, and obtain the required pictures they need to come up with an orthodontic treatment plan that will work best for you. Once the orthodontist has finished with their assessment, he or she will go over the plan with you. You will be able to discuss how long the plan will take, and what options you might have – such as choosing metal braces, clear ones, invisible braces or functional (jaw) appliance as in kids.

Length of Treatment

On average an orthodontic treatment takes about two years, after which you will need to wear a retainer for some time to help keep your teeth in place. Different aspects will affect the length of your treatment, including your initial condition, age, how much work you personally need done, and how well you follow your orthodontic treatment plan. The younger you are generally the quicker the treatment can progress if you follow the instructions precisely. However, some adults will find that their orthodontic treatments progress more quickly because they are able to follow the directions more consistently. Treatment with jaw appliance ranges from 6 months to 14 months depending on severity and indication. After the jaw appliance stage the patients are re-evaluated with X rays, photographs and impressions. It is then determined whether the patient need to undergo braces treatment for settling the teeth in their new position.
